Determining what's in the air people breathe at home and at work — and where it came from.
When IAQ testing helps
Buildings collect chemistry from finishes, occupants, and outside air. Symptoms — headaches, eye irritation, persistent odours — usually point at one of a handful of compound families. Targeted analysis is faster and cheaper than a full unknown screen, but unknown screens are exactly what TD-GC-MS was built for.
What we typically measure
- Total VOCs (TVOC) and individual VOCs by TD-GC-MS
- Aldehydes (formaldehyde, acetaldehyde) by DNPH
- Microbial VOCs (MVOCs) for hidden mould activity
- Combustion products (NO₂, CO, particulate)
- Specific complaints — solvents, refrigerants, ammonia
Sample collection
Active sampling on Tenax / Carbograph tubes for VOCs, DNPH-coated cartridges for aldehydes, and integrated particulate cassettes. Pumps are CASSEN-supplied with calibration certificates.
